Since I started writing my blog, I've become more senstive to things that are happening around me, able to appriciate little events/things - this is one benefit I wasn't expected earlier. Do my fellow bloggers feel the samey way?
Mom gave me some 玉蘭花 - White Champak today. This little flower has the greatest smell - the smell is really similar to Gardenia - Fresh and not too over powered.
I like to put it by my nightstand, it fills the entire room with the perfect freshness.
I don't think it's a popular flower in U.S. I don't remember seeing White Champak in any flower shop... Well, I was having some difficult time finding the English name of 玉蘭花 earlier .
White Champak is popular and easy to find in Taiwan. The taxi drivers like to put it inside the car, and grandmoms like to wear it like a pin on their clothes. it's usually sold on the side walk or busy traffic intersections, They seem to all have the same sales pitch, it goes like "Fragrant flower, fragrant flower, who wants to buy Fragrant flower..." I remember we always ran into the same vendor on our way home from the church in Taiwan. The vendor was a high school student only who was trying to make some money to pay for school and to help out family. Dad would buy white champak form him every time we saw him till we left Taiwan.
It's interesting how I still remember that after many years. I hope he did made enough money to go to school, and was able to find a good job after his graduation, and no longer need to sell 玉蘭花 in the hot Taiwan summer.
