I went to Mitsuwa Marketplace for lunch today with my co-worker, Debra. Mitsuwa is a Japense chain supermarket in Costa Mesa, it's about 10 minutes from my office. Costa Mesa Mitsuwa is much nicer than the one in San Gabriel. The supermarket is clean, big, and well organized. There is also a bookstore, a little traditional sweet shop, a gift shop, a pottery place (where you can get some nice japenese soup bowl), and a large foodcourt.
The foodcourt is big, but always crowded during lunch hours. Sometime it gets hard to find a table.
Beside the authentic Japanese food: Noodle, Rice Bowl, Bento Box, etc. There is also a Italian Bistro, of course, with a bit of Japanese touch.
We ususally have hard time deciding what to eat - there are just too many choices. The displays all look so delicious....
Both Debra and I decided to try this Ramen place, today - "FIRE HEAD Mountain".
The ramen noodle in Fire-Head Mountain is a little more expenseive compares with the other place here, but they have the best noodle.
I ordered a combination - a small bowl of Miso Ramen noodle with Japanese pork rice. I like to have a bit of everything. It also came with a soy sauce egg. (yummy)...
The miso noodle tasted pretty good, but the soup is a little salty. The noodle is just right (not too soft). Maybe next time I should try different kind of soup base. (something lighter...)
The rice bowl was okay, a little too greasy for me. It has the exact same taste as Mom's stewed pork - which I still have some in my freezer.
Debra ordered Spicy noodle soup. Again, it was too greasy and salty that she didn't even finish it.
Debra always goes to this Japanese Sweet place to buy Mochi after lunch. I sometimes pick up few items from here. This is a chain store as well. I remember it has a very nice shop in NYC, right on 5th Avenue. I used to buy their Green Tea Honey cake from time to time.
