I decided to stay in Orange County this weekend instead of my usual routine of going back to Mom and Dad. I want to explore more about OC, maybe visit OC Fair, try few new restaurants. Chia was so supportive and also dedicated her whole Saturday to have a girl's day out with me
. We decided to start our day with a nice brunch. We typically would just go to French Champagne Bakery around my apartment in Irvine, but today, we decided to try something different.
I've wanted to visit Zov's for a while. My boss recommended this restaurant last year, especially on their grilled rack of lamb. Chia seemed to like this idea as well- since she and Thomas had their first date here.
Zov's is a Middle Eastern and European bistro located in Tustin, CA. It has a bistro which is a more formal dinning with full menu, the adjacent is a cafe/bakery which is more casual dinning for breakfast, brunch, and afternoon tea. It also offers cooking classes and special wine events from time to time. Chia and I had the brunch at the cafe.
I really like the setting of Zov's. Causal and relaxing cafe setting. Very freidnly staffs, the servcie is great! Chia and I both ordered ice tea, and the waiter kept refilling our tea without us asking. The decro of the restaurant is also very modern and sleek. The open kitchen, bar and lots of window. It is very spacious, not like those typical crowded French cafe.
Zov's has a very complete brunch menu from pancake, waffle, omelet, to salad, and sandwich. Lots of items to choose from. Chia ordered a special omelet.

Ham & Cheese plus avocado omelet. It also came with hashbrown, and few slices for fruit. Her omelet is actually really good, they put a lot of chedder cheese, and the special ham is very tastey (maybe is a smoked ham). The portion is just right.
I ordered Frittata. It's a open-faced omelet. It has roasted red pepper, fresh basil, tomato, and mozzarella cheese.
Don't you think it looks like a mini pizza?

I think the fresh basil add the extra special flavor to this dish- unlike the typical omlete. I also like the mozzarella cheese. I think Frittata is European style of omlete, and what Chia had is typical American style omlete.
It also came with whole wheat bread- freshly made by their bakery.

Chia and I both enjoyed our brunch experience at Zov's. It's a great place for the weekend. It's not as crowded as French Champagne Bakery we typically go. We don't need to find our own table or feel rush to eat because people are waiting next to you. We can actually enjoy our weekend brunch. The portion is just right - not too big, just right.
We didn't have any pastry since it's still early in the day. There are so many type of desserts to choose from. It's remind me of French Bakery in Paris, and La Baguette at Stanford shopping center.

They look so yummy - maybe we will come back for the afternoon tea.
